Fred Proulx Fred Proulx, who will soon turn 81, worked for almost 40 years at United Shoe Machinery Company in Beverly. But don’t let his long tenure with USM fool you: Fred is a renaissance man, and in his work as a volunteer at the Cape Ann Discovery Center in Gloucester, he is a greeter, a guru, a handyman, and an educator.	Bill Sousa Bill Sousa first took on a volunteer job in November 2007, becoming the “shop/equipment maintainer" at the Stevens-Coolidge Place in North Andover. He started out doing winter maintenance work: changing oil, sharpening blades on mowers, and doing some indoor painting. Then came the fateful wind storm that knocked down a hanging lantern at the front door of the museum.
Heather Duggan Heather Duggan has been a critical member of The Trustees’ staff team throughout this past summer and has applied her great enthusiasm for and love of the local landscape to her press and outreach work in the Pioneer Valley.	Kurt Bullard Kurt Bullard, a 15-year-old from Norwood has built a bridge. But you can’t actually walk across Kurt’s bridge; rather, he has created a way for researchers to step back into the past easily and safely.
