Research, Monitoring, and Management Opportunities

Location:
Copicut Woods
Responsibilities:
We have some interesting opportunities available for interested and willing volunteers! These include:

  • Painting and building renovations at Fall River's Wattupa Reservation. Help us to fix up these historic buildings for use as a classroom and maintiance shop.
  • Installing a solar powered deer fence and assembling a greenhouse at the Bioreserve Restoration Nursery. Our 400+ Atlantic White Cedars need protection from hungry deer and winter's cold.
  • Trail Maintenance and Monitoring. Keep us appraised of trial conditions and use.
  • Other volunteer opportunities include: GPS mapping projects, water quality testing, and historical research.
  •  Bluebird nest box monitoring. Help us to gather data on the Bioreserve's bluebird population at our many volunteer-built nest boxes.
  • Vernal Pool Certifications. With little more than a clipboard and a camera you can help us to offically certify some of the hundreds of potential vernal pools in the Bioreserve.
Preferred Skills &
Abilities:
For each volunteer opportunity, there are specific skill sets that would be important for a prospective volunteer to possess. Still, the most important qualities are willingness to take responsibility, curiousity, and a willingness to learn about this wonderful property and all that it contains.
Time Commitment:
Flexible, depending upon the timing and duration of each project.
