Trail Stewards - Weir Hill and Other Reservations

Responsibilities:
Do you enjoy hiking and being outdoors? We are looking for volunteers interested in becoming Trail Stewards.
  • Hike on a designated property on a regular basis (ideally once per week, or every other week).
  • Use hand tools (such as clippers, lopping shears, bow saws or other hand tools) to trim back branches that encroach the trail. 
  • Place small branches, sticks, etc. off the trail and report on major trail conditions (such as fallen trees, etc).
  • Collect trash or other items that may be present on the trail.
  • Re-stock the property sign-board with new property maps and brochures.
  • Interact with visitors and answer questions as applicable.
  • Report to the Property Superintendent on a regular basis (weekly is ideal) via e-mail or telephone to check in, and complete a Trail Report noting issues on the property that need staff attention.

Abilities:
You should be able to complete physically vigorous work and enjoy interacting with the public.
Time Commitment:
2-3 hours per week or every other week
