Long Hill Flower Fields Pick-Your-Own Volunteer

Overview:

The Trustees of Reservations is looking for volunteers to run the Long Hill Flower Fields pick-your-own program from July 15 – September 30, 2011.

Responsibilities:
  • Greet and welcome pick-your-own customers and visitors
  • Explain the procedures of pick-your-own, take payment and provide change
  • Assist families and children with the flower picking as necessary
  • Educate public about organic gardening practices used in the fields
Qualifications:
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to use hand tools and pruners safely
  • Ability to communicate effectively and courteously with the public
Physical Demands:
  • Light lifting (under 30 lbs)
  • Ability to work in light rain or hot sun
Training & Support:

Garden Educator will provide necessary training and support for volunteers to feel comfortable running the pick-your-own flower program

Time Commitment:
The pick-your-own hours are Thursdays 3 – 5PM, Fridays 12Noon – 5PM, and Saturdays 12Noon – 5PM. Pick-your-own volunteers will commit to one shift per week for a minimum of three weeks during the summer season, July 15 – September 30, 2011.
