Long Hill Flower Fields Volunteer

Overview:

The Trustees of Reservations is looking for volunteers to assist in the planting and maintenance of the new pick-your-own Flower Field at Long Hill. Help The Trustees’ Garden Educator to plant, weed, water over 20 varieties of organically grown cut flowers and herbs.

Responsibilities:
  • Help maintain the garden by watering, weeding, planting, sowing seeds, and other garden related tasks
  • Educate public about organic garden practices used in the fields 
Qualifications:
  • Ability to work independently and in small groups
  • Ability to use hand tools and pruners safely
  • Ability to communicate effectively and courteously with the public

 

Physical Demands:
  • Light lifting (under 30 lbs)
  • Ability to work in light rain or hot sun
Training & Support:

Each morning, the Garden Educator will provide clear instructions and education so that the volunteer can effectively complete the day’s tasks

Time Commitment:
Thursdays, 9 – 11AM, June – October. No formal commitment is required.
