Public Relations Intern - Holyoke

Location:
Responsibilities:
Help The Trustees get the word out about special places and programs to support conservation, recreation, and education efforts in the Pioneer Valley.

Help Manage Press Database/Track Local Coverage:

  • Help research and update local media contact lists to ensure we are targeting the right contacts at local TV, radio, magazine and newspaper outlets.
  • Track local coverage of The Trustees and other conservation groups or land trusts to compare and contrast story angles.

Media Outreach Support

  • Help distribute Trustees event listings and releases to media local contacts.
  • Provide media pitching and follow up assistance on Trustees-related events, news and happenings to “place” stories or listings.
  • Draft editorials to local papers on various topics as they relate to The Trustees.
  • Offer to write contributed articles on an area of your interest/expertise, whether it is gardening, conservation legislation, local advocacy or local history, in order to convey important Trustees messages to the community.
Preferred Skills &
Abilities:
Creative, synthesizing thinkers with organizational skills and familiarity with Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Ability to write clearly and accurately
  • Courteous and professional telephone skills
  • Artistic abilities and Spanish speaking skills a plus.
  • Transportation to begin work in downtown Holyoke required. 
Time Commitment:
Varies depending on the volunteer’s specific job responsibilities. Can be flexible.
