The Trustees invites visual artists to submit entries to the upcoming “Art Blast: Blank Slate Art” exhibition and competition at the Governor Ames Estate (for further information on process to submit, email address below for prospectus). Artists are invited to participate in this unique opportunity to bring art into the vacant house on the estate by designing and transforming a room in the house, using any visual medium. This one time only exhibit will be open to the public, will encompass the entire first floor of the house, and will be an immersive experience for visitors.
The house is nearing the end of its lifespan and we are seeking to celebrate its presence by allowing artists to use the full extent of the space (including walls, floors, ceilings, etc.) as a platform. Designs can be in any visual medium (including but not limited to 2D art, 3D art, staging, floral, painting, photography, sculptures, etc.) and will need to be completed on-site over the course of a single weekend. The theme, “Bringing the Outdoors In,” is representative of The Trustees and their protection of myriad special places, from beaches to wildlife reserves and cultural landscapes to natural forests.
