South Shore Camps Counselor in Training (CIT) Program

Weir River Farm and World’s End Camps provide opportunities for teens to gain valuable job experience working with children in outdoor settings, and allow teens to be positive role models for younger campers. Counselors in Training (CITs) assist camp counselors with camp activities, actively lead games and activities with campers, and create a welcoming atmosphere for all the children at camp.

In accordance with Massachusetts’ camp regulations, CITs must be between 15-17 years of age during the camp sessions they attend. CITs are required to participate in a minimum of two sessions of camp. Before beginning to work with campers, CITs complete a required orientation and staff training.

Over the summer, CITs complete a guided camper activity from planning and development to implementation. CITs are mentored and supported by camp staff who provide insightful feedback to further the CIT’s job and career interests.

This is a volunteer program that fosters a positive experience for campers, counselors, and CITs alike.
