Evening Photography at Appleton Farms

Photograph the expansive landscape Appleton Farms offers during golden hour and sunset.

Instructor: Niklas Weikert
A professional photographer with 16 years of landscape photography experience, previous instructor at Hunt’s Photo and Video, and working photographer at Pilot

Description:

Join Appleton Farm Photographer Niklas Weikert on an evening walk through the Great Pasture during golden hour to the top of [HILL ON GREAT PASTURE] where we will focus on techniques to capture vibrant sunsets. Topics will include planning and preparation, composition, exposure, HDR & panoramic photography.  The focus will be on landscape photography, but wildlife and macro photography will also be discussed on the walk up to the hill. Learn skills and techniques for sunsets and landscapes that you can take anywhere, while gaining access to a unique opportunity to explore Appleton Farms not normally open to the public.

** This class does require walking over uneasy terrain and approximately 1-2 miles of walking (out and back). We will be walking through areas that are near tall grass, please be conscious of ticks and other wildlife, we recommend periodically checking for ticks, and doing a thorough check when you return home.

The class will meet at the parking lot by the Old House. After an initial introduction, we will walk out to the great pasture and begin prepping for sunset while casually snapping photos along the way. Topics will include planning and preparation for sunset, proper exposure, HDR and panoramic techniques and patience. The class will conclude after sunset (while there is still light)  and will walk back to the parking lot together where we will review the topics we covered while photographing.
