Nature Journaling

“It is the marriage of the soul with nature that makes the intellect fruitful, and gives birth to imagination.” – Henry David Thoreau

Nature journaling is not only a way to find a deeper connection between ourselves and nature, it’s also a way to ignite our imaginations, powers of observation and creativity. It’s a way to experience a place, any place, in a new way, to find new treasures and new meaning in the ordinary and the unexpected.

The Appleton Farm staff will lead a weekly hour of morning nature journaling, the perfect way to awaken your senses and kick start your day. Each week, we will visit a different spot on the farm, from the Great Pasture and Sunset Hill to the barnyard and Runaway Brook, exploring a variety of flora and fauna, seeking inspiration in a number of different landscapes and surroundings, both natural and manmade.

These sessions are open to all skill and age levels. There is no requirement that participants have any sort of talent with art or writing, although they may discover that they have quite a bit through the practice of nature journaling.

Note: Journaling materials will not be provided, please bring your own materials to write on and write with.

Please note: Participants will be asked to follow Covid-19 related guidelines, including wearing face coverings and maintaining social distance. If you are experiencing symptoms, please do not attend the event.

Space is limited for this event and pre-registration is strongly recommended.

We will meet at the Farm Offices building.
