Celebrate the summer season with a special evening hike. The hike will be led by longtime friend of Appleton Farms, Mark Johnson, and will be about an hour long, following some of Appleton Farms most beautiful trails.
Be sure to wear boots or shoes that are appropriate for hiking in potentially wet and muddy spots, and you may want to bring a flashlight in case of cloud cover.
Space is limited for this event and pre-registration is strongly recommended.
About Mark Johnson
Mark Johnson has had a lifelong love of the outdoors, from his childhood exploring the woods of Maine, to kayaking the marshes and hiking the dunes of the North Shore. He recently retired from his finance career and is excited to continue his involvement with Appleton Farms, where he has been a volunteer since 2017. Mark is an Appleton tree steward and was involved with the planting and care of the new lindens, maples and beeches in 2019. Mark also helps with the spring sugaring activities, including sap collection, boiling and syrup production. Over the years he has also helped with event preparation and visitor education for a number of farm programs. In addition to his work with the farm, Mark also volunteers with other Trustees properties and a local land conservation trust, leading hikes and assisting with trail and site maintenance. Mark loves the changes of season in New England, and is an avid trail runner, hiker, skier, and mountain biker. He lives in South Hamilton with his wife Tracy and their border collie mix, Gretel, while his three grown children create their own outdoors experiences around the country.
