As the summer winds down, birds will be on the move. To get a sense of the environmental health of Appleton Farms (and Massachusetts) we want to keep track of which birds are stopping by the property. We would love to have your help! If you have the skills to identify birds and want to play a huge role in monitoring our bird population, join us for a morning of searching for our feathered friends. We will take the data we collect and report it to the Trustees ecology team who make decisions about our overall sustainable practices.
This is a free, volunteer based opportunity. You do not need to register, However, if you plan on attending the count please email our Farm Educator Kyle (firstname.lastname@example.org). This will allow him to plan out monitoring locations. We will meet in the Old House (Farm Office) parking lot the morning of the count. Generally the monitoring will span the whole morning but you are welcome to leave early if needed. See you soon!
Note: Please bring your own binoculars. We have a few pairs if needed.
