Intro to Backyard Composting

Looking for more cool stuff to do?
We've got tons more fun events and programs in your area – sign up for our monthly enews here!

Have you ever wanted to start your own backyard compost, but don't know where to start? Join us at Appleton Farms to learn how to do just that! Whether you have a compost that isn’t going as well as planned or you are starting from scratch, this workshop is for you.

Having a compost at home is one of the most impactful things you can do as a homestead. It reduces our landfill footprint and provides a valuable resource to your home and community. It reduces money spent on soil and fertilizers. These are just a few of the benefits of composting! And luckily for all of us, it is one of the easiest environmentally friendly things to start and maintain. It just takes a little bit of knowledge, some simple decisions for your own personal space and a little bit of a plan.

Note: We will be focusing on small-scale home composts, not large-scale farm composting. The same principles apply but execution is different.
