Beekeeping Basics with the Essex County Beekeepers Association

Looking for more cool stuff to do?
We've got tons more fun events and programs in your area – sign up for our monthly enews here!

Join beekeepers Grace and Geoff Neale and Eric Josephson for a 3-hour beekeeping workshop on May 6th at Appleton Farms.  The rewards of beekeeping are many!  Honey for health and cooking, a supply of gifts for friends and family, and your native and non-native garden plants will be pollinated by your very own bees.  In this workshop, you’ll learn all the basics of starting and keeping a hive including wooden ware and hive components; bee biology;  acquiring bees; and how and where to locate your hive. There will be beekeeping suits with veils and various other beekeeping tools to check out. When you leave this workshop, you’ll have an understanding of beekeeping basics, resources for starting your own hive, and sources for your own spring bees.

Part of the proceeds from this workshop will go to support the Essex County Beekeepers Association Scholarship Fund
