The Old Manse lawn becomes a trip back in time on two Saturday afternoons in May. As you stroll the grounds you'll encounter characters from the past, interact with Minutemen and Redcoats in camp, watch the ladies from the past at their laundry and sewing, encounter famous authors and Manse residents like the Revolutionary War lady of the house, Madam Phebe Ripley, and literary ladies and gentlemen like Sophia and Nathaniel Hawthorne, Margaret Fuller, and Henry David Thoreau. Try out early American games and crafts. Also included are musical entertainment and refreshments for sale. Specific demonstrations and characters will be announced prior to each event.
