Weaving Stories Through Time: Native American Baskets

The Native American collection boasts over 300 baskets of diverse origins and materials, and they will be the focus of this tour. Curator Shana Dumont Garr will share background about the meanings, styles, and uses of the baskets that are currently on view in the Native American galleries, alongside other baskets from storage. In addition, she will share examples of how weaving and basket-making continue to be an effective means of expression in contemporary art.
