The most recent U.S. Census data shows that agriculture in the United States is becoming more diverse.  Non-white farmers increased by nearly 15 percent over the past five years, compared to a nearly 5 percent decrease among white farmers. This event will provide a forum for learning about the key role of enslaved Africans in opening up farmland in the Northeast during Colonial times, as well as a conversation about current farmers of color in the United States, especially the Northeast. Discussion will focus on social justice in the food and agriculture system.
