1. What is a Crane Beach Parking Sticker?
A Crane Beach Parking Permit sticker allows you (and everyone in your vehicle) to park at Crane Beach for no additional charge all day, every day, for one full year (Crane Beach Parking Permits expire the same date as your Trustees Membership). The revenue from these permits allows The Trustees of Reservations to provide excellent care and management of the beach, including the services of highly trained lifeguards, emergency medical response units, rangers, and police as well as facilities such as bath-houses and concessions. They also support our work to protect this spectacular beach and the birds, plants and animals that call it home.

    2. Do I have to be a Trustees Member to purchase a parking permit sticker?
    Yes! The Trustees very much appreciate and need the financial support that your membership contribution provides. The special savings we are offering members with the Crane Beach Parking Permit Sticker Program does require you to have an active Trustees of Reservations membership. Crane Beach Parking Permits expire the same day as your membership (i.e.  If your membership expires May 2015 and you decide to purchase your permit in December 2014 you will be issued a May 2015 Crane Beach sticker).  Be sure to renew early if you want to take advantage of the free parking at Crane Beach all year long!

      3. If I have a parking permit sticker on my car, am I guaranteed parking?
      A Crane Beach Parking Sticker does not guarantee you a parking space. Our parking lot can accommodate approximately 1,400 vehicles. Once those spaces are filled we do need to close the parking lot to additional vehicles until such time as guests leave and spaces become available. But, with a Crane Beach Parking Permit, you can come any time of day, any day, all year-round. We’ve found that many of our permit holders enjoy coming early or later in the day, when the beach is often less crowded, but the sun, sand, and sea are still spectacular.

        4. How many parking permit stickers can I purchase?
        Individual-level members may purchase only one sticker while Family-level and Contributing-level members may purchase up to two stickers. Supporting members are eligible to receive 1 Crane Beach Sticker at no additional cost (a second sticker may be purchase for $75).  Sustaining, and Sponsor-level members, up to two permit stickers are available at no additional charge as a benefit of membership if they are requested at the time they make their membership gift (see question 13 below for more information). When purchasing/requesting 2 stickers note that both vehicles must be registered at the address listed on your membership.

          5. Can I purchase a parking permit sticker for my friend?
          Stickers may only be purchased by members for their own use. All friends, relatives, neighbors, and colleagues are all welcome and encouraged to join The Trustees and purchase a Crane Beach parking permit sticker for themselves.  However, if your friend is a member and you’d like to purchase a permit for them, you certainly can do that.  You will need your friend’s membership level and expiration date in order to purchase the sticker.

            6. How much do the parking permit stickers cost?
            Crane Beach Parking Permit stickers are an incredible value. For an entire year of access to the beach, each parking permit sticker is only $75. 

              7. Is the purchase of a parking permit sticker tax-deductible?
              No. Crane Beach parking permits by themselves are not tax-deductible. If Supporting, Sustaining, or Sponsor-level members or choose to accept permit(s), the tax-deductible portion of their gift will be reduced by $75 per permit requested.

                8. When will I receive my parking permit stickers?
                Once you have ordered your parking permit sticker, we will process your order right away. Permits purchased during the off season (September – April) will be mailed to the address listed on your membership record within 10 days of purchase and will arrive with your membership cards. Please allow 10 business days for delivery.

                  9. When do parking permit stickers expire? Does it expire at the same time as my membership?
                  Your Crane Beach parking permit stickers expire the same time as your membership.  In past years the parking sticker ran from May 1st – April 30th, but after hearing feedback from members, this year we’ve decided to sync your permit and membership expirations.  No more wondering when your membership expires or having to renew months in advance to get your sticker in time for the beach season.  Now you can enjoy a simplified and streamlined process that will make your beach visits hassle-free!

                  10. Does a permit include parking at the Castle Hill summer picnic concerts?
                  This parking permit sticker does not include admission for our popular Castle Hill picnic concerts. But as a member, your admission to the concerts is discounted. And, members also receive free admission during regular visitor hours to the grounds of Castle Hill.

                  11. I don’t own a vehicle – I use a rental or zip car when I come to the beach. Can I still get a sticker?
                  We want to be sure that every member has access to this special program. If you regularly use a Zip or rental car to go to the beach, you may request a special permit by calling 978.921.1944x1885 or emailing cranebeach@ttor.org. The special permit may be used only by that member. Please provide proof of your Zip Car Membership when you’re purchasing the sticker. Gate staff will request a valid ID and membership card prior to admitting you to the beach on each visit.

                  12. Where do I affix my parking permit stickers? Does it have to be on my car?
                  Your Crane Beach parking permit is not valid until you affix it to the inside corner of the driver’s side front windshield. If your permit is not affixed to your vehicle you will be charged the regular gate admission. Permits may not be laminated or taped to your windshield. If you are having difficulty placing it on your car, the gate attendant can help you on your first visit to the beach.


                  13. I have a Supporting, Sustaining, or Sponsor level membership; how do I obtain my stickers?
                  As a Supporting you are eligible to receive one Crane Beach parking permit and as a Sustaining, or Sponsor member, you are eligible to receive up to two Crane Beach parking permit stickers at no additional cost for your immediate family’s use if you request your sticker at the time you make your membership gift. Stickers may not be given to friends or neighbors. If you don’t opt to get a sticker when you make your membership gift, you’ll have to buy them out-of-pocket later. Why? With a value of $75 each, Crane Beach Parking permits are a benefit of Trustees membership and themselves are not-tax deductible (yes, the IRS is making the rules here and there’s no getting around it.). Therefore in order to receive the benefit of a permit, we have to deduct the value of them from your membership gift in the same tax year you receive the benefit and provide you with an accurate tax receipt, or receive payment for them outright.

                  15. What happens if I trade my car in during the year? Will I have to purchase another sticker?
                  We will provide you with a replacement sticker in the event that you trade in your vehicle during the course of the year. Your old sticker will be voided and a new permit will be issued. In season (May 1 – September 1) replacement permits may be obtained onsite at the beach. Off season (Sept 2- April 30) replacement permits may be requested by emailing cranebeach@ttor.org or calling 978.921.1944x1885.
