Originally part of a picturesque, early-20th-century country estate,
Hingham's Weir River Farm today is a 10-acre working farm that produces vegetables, flowers, meat, and eggs for local families.
Polly
Thayer Starr, a world-renowned artist, generously donated her family’s
historic
estate to The Trustees, and opened it to the public in 2000. The
property began as a
visitor-centered barnyard, where a great variety of donated animals
lived, and today we're transitioning the farm back to its agricultural
roots. You're always welcome to bring the kids and visit our
livestock and working barnyard, and to walk along the trails meandering
through the open pastures and woods. Learn more about visiting Weir River Farm >>
Weir River Farm also provides
sustainably-grown local food to the community through our 3.5-acre market garden and meat and egg sales. We
sell our produce at local markets and through our Community Supported
Agriculture program.
And, you don't want to miss out on our many
educational programs and special events. From open barnyard Saturdays,
to our 4-H program, to our popular camp for preschoolers, to our annual
Fall Festival, we offer kids and adults of all ages a fun, interactive
experience on the farm. You'll learn about where our food comes from and
what life is like on a real farm and, best of all, you'll get your
hands dirty helping in the fields and barnyard. Learn more >> |
