We offer cooking classes and workshops, one-of-a kind Dinners in the Field, and casual Friday Farm Dinners—all featuring seasonal food fresh from our fields and other local farms.
Cooking Classes & Workshops
Gather in our state-of-the-art farmhouse kitchen to prepare seasonal recipes with professional chef-instructors. Classes vary but many begin with a leisurely stroll to collect key ingredients from the fields, cheese kitchen, chicken coops, and dairy. Most end with a sit down shared meal. Whether it’s a quick class or a longer workshop, you'll go home with new skills and tasty recipes to feed your friends and family.
Dinners in the Field
Join us this summer for the launch of Appleton Cooks! Dinners in the Field. Arrive to a chilled signature cocktail and enjoy the view out over the abundant fields. Then follow our farmers on a short, optional stroll around the farm tailored to the dinner’s theme. Gather back around the set tables and sit down to a seasonally inspired, four-course dinner highlighting ingredients made or grown by Appleton and other local producers. It’s fine dining, farm style – and our farmers will share the table and some stories from the fields. Don’t miss this special opportunity to enjoy all that Appleton has to offer on a relaxed summer evening. Dinners will be held rain or shine. Ticket price includes the meal, signature cocktail, and tour. Carefully paired wine and local craft beer will be available for purchase.
Friday Farm Dinners
Bring your family and some friends for a relaxing evening watching the sunset over the Great Pasture and munching on fresh-from-the-farm food. Dinner will feature a seasonal menu grown or raised at Appleton and other local farms. A typical menu might include pizza from our earth oven or our own grass-fed burgers, seasonal fresh salads, and homemade ice cream. Enjoy a cold beverage from our friends at Mercury Brewing Company while you play old-fashioned lawn games and listen to live music. Ticket price includes the full dinner buffet, non-alcoholic beverages (beer and wine will be available for purchase), dessert, games, music and all the fun you can handle! Dinners are held rain or shine.
Private Workshops & Dinners
Want to do something different and fun for your next special occasion? Consider booking a private workshop! Your group will work with a professional chef instructor to create a full farm-fresh meal, which you will all enjoy together in the farm dining room or outside on the tented patio. Gain new cooking skills, eat some terrific food, and bond with friends over a shared experience. Not a bad way to spend an evening! If cooking isn’t your thing, and you would rather sit back and just enjoy a special dinner with friends, we offer that too! Workshops and dinners can be tailored to your own particular tastes and interests. Farm tours are a nice addition to your private class or dinner and are available upon request.
Springtime on the farm is a beautiful thing. The farmers begin seeding vegetables in the greenhouse and preparing the fields. Cows move out to pasture and their milk takes on the flavor of springtime. Our sugar makers are hard at work boiling the sap from the sugar maples. In the kitchen, the chef features these delicate flavors in every dish.
The farm is a busy place in the summer! In the kitchen we focus on simple recipes and techniques that best showcase all the flavors the fields have to offer. Grilling and other easy preparations rule during these long, hot days.
As the days begin to cool and shorten, the rhythms on the farm slow and change. We busy ourselves harvesting and preserving to prepare for the coming winter. This is the time of year to gather and enjoy the bounty of the farm in all kinds of warming recipes.
When it’s too cold to spend much time outside, winter is the season to warm up in the kitchen. Between holiday entertaining and resolutions to start fresh in the new year – it’s a good time to brush up and learn some new recipes and techniques. We dig into the pantry to enjoy some of last season’s preserved offerings and dream of the coming spring!
