Great House Tours at Castle Hill, The Crane Estate, Ipswich MA

A national treasure, this magnificent mansion offers an opulent glimpse of the Crane family’s life in the roaring 20’s. Tours feature beautifully appointed rooms with ornate woodcarvings, luxurious Italian marble, sterling silver fixtures, and more.

Beginning May 27, Wednesdays – Thursdays 10AM – 3PM; Fridays – Saturdays 10AM – 1PM (except July 4th)
First Wednesdays, June 3 through September 2 | 10AM - 7PM.

Members: free. Nonmembers: Adult $10, Child $5. Minimum age: 8 years old (16 without adult). Group tours by appointment. Call 978.921.1944 x8815. 

Historic Landscape Tours of Castle Hill, The Crane Estate, Ipswich MA

Take a guided historic walking tour of this grand, early 20th century summer estate by the sea and learn about the designs of Boston landscape architects Olmsted Bros. and Arthur Shurcliff.

Thursdays & Saturdays, May 28 through October 10, except July 4th | 10AM. Tour lasts 90 minutes. Bring comfortable footwear and water bottle. Members: Free. Nonmembers: $5. Minimum age: 8 years old (16 without adult).

Come have lunch with us at the Crane Estate while enjoying an artful talk or workshop in Castle Hill’s Italian-style “casino” buildings. Bring a lunch; lemonade and cookies provided. Members: FREE. Nonmembers: $5.

Roll up your sleeves for a lesson in creative paint finishes and a hands-on attempt to achieve the “antiqued” looks the Cranes created in the Great House. Ipswich artist Will Cady Perkins will describe and demonstrate the techniques he has used for clients nationwide and for us at Castle Hill.

Farm to Fork: An Evening of Al Fresco Dining with Barbara Lynch and Friends

Join us for a special evening of delicious food and great company -- all for a great cause -- with Chef Barbara Lynch and friends. We'll dine family-style on the Grand Allee as we sample dishes prepared by some of Boston's most well-known chefs, all made from the best, freshest, local ingredients: farm-fresh produce from The Trustees' Appleton Farms, clams from Ipswich Bay, and lobster from Gloucester.

All proceeds go to support efforts to restore the designed landscapes of the Crane Estate to their original splendor.
