           | Property Description | 55 acres | Established 2004 | This 55-acre gem on the Charles River was a working farm for generations. Visitors can explore the fields and stone walls and meander wooded uplands of mixed hardwoods and evergreens. Wild turkeys lurk in the meadows, as do rarely seen pheasant (probable escapees from a nearby sportsmen’s club). The field habitat supports goldenrod, Joe-pye weed, Black-eyed Susan, and other wildflowers. A mile of frontage on the river allows paddlers to arrive by canoe and kayak –– there’s an Army Corps of Engineers put-in just a short distance downstream. The open meadows and myriad shade trees offer perfect picnic spots and serve as ideal places for simple contemplation. Be sure to visit the massive oak that dominates one field. |
