        | Property Description | 87 acres | Established 1897 | THIS PROPERTY IS INACCESSIBLE AT THIS TIME Mount Ann Park features thick, hilly woods of white pine, oak, maple, beech, birch, and hemlock that lead to a huge, smooth-topped granite outcrop summit that overlooks Haskell and Dykes Pond, water reservoirs of the city of Gloucester. The summit offers views of Gloucester Harbor to the south and Crane Beach to the north. The brothers of naturalist Henry David Minot gave the land to establish a park in his memory. In 1876, at age seventeen, Minot wrote The Land Birds and Game Birds of New England. Throughout his youth, Minot suffered from recurrent health problems; he died at an early age. |

Mt. Ann Park is bound on one side by Route 128, another side by City of Gloucester watershed land, and on all other sides by private landowners. Therefore, at present, there is no authorized formal access to the reservation. Roadside parking is not permitted on New Way Lane. Road Map:  |
