Little Tom - Holyoke

Responsibilities
The Invasives Weed Buster plays a key role in helping us curb the harmful spread of invasive species—including pale swallowwort, Asiatic bitterswee, and bush honeysuckles—at Little Tom. With a group, you’ll walk the property to identify the extent of the weed manifestations and search for new infestations. Hand pulling or hand cutting techniques will be used.

Required Skills & Abilities

Interest in and an understanding of the need to control invasive plants. Physical vigor to be able to work in sometimes hot and dry, or cold or wet, conditions dragging plant material over uneven ground.  Plant identification skills are helpful but not required. A  Massachusetts pesticide applicators’ license is not needed but would be a great asset.

Time Commitment Needed
4-hour commitment several times from May through September or more frequently if desired.

Number of Volunteers Needed
