|
| Responsibilities |
|
Conduct bimonthly visits to Medfield Rhododendrons to inspect deer fencing surrounding the largest rhododendron patch on the reservation. The occurrence of rosebay rhododendron on the property is only one of seven known populations in Massachusetts. The Trustees have erected fencing to control deer browsing impacts to this state-listed Threatened species. The rhododendron monitor will inspect the integrity of the deer exclosure fencing as well as any observed browsing impacts to the rhododendrons and report findings to the Charles River Valley Superintendent and Regional Ecologist. Digital photographs from several fixed locations within the rhododendron colony will help The Trustees track the health of the stand over time. Site visits should be conducted on a monthly schedule during the winter when browsing impacts may be greatest. |
