| | Responsibilities | The Cedar Grove Steward helps maintain a threatened cedar stand on Rocky Neck by clearing nuisance species, including bittersweet, honeysuckle, buckthorn, green briar, Norway maples and English oaks. The initial stage of the project has made a major ecological impact on the area. Competing hardwoods and exotic invasive plants have been displacing the cedars and other plants dependent on the early successional habitat. Without action this unique and ecologically valuable natural feature of the property would be lost. |
| | Required Skills & Abilities | Positive attitude and willingness to work with a team or on your own. Basic knowledge of invasive species. Gloves, saws, and loppers will be provided. |
| | Time Commitment Needed | Work is ongoing and extensive. Suitable for large groups with a four or more hours to spend at a time. Start Date: April 1, 2007 or later |
| | Number of Volunteers Needed | | 10 |
