Before Setting Out
Carry Your Membership Card
Trustees members receive free or discounted parking and admission where entry fees are charged and receive discounts to most programs and events. Carry your membership card with you at all times. You will be asked to present this card in order to receive membership benefits. Benefits are not transferable to nonmembers; membership cards may be used only by those named on the card.

If your card is lost or stolen, contact the membership department at membership@ttor.org or call 978/921-1944.

Open Hours/Tour Schedules
Most properties are open year-round, daily, sunrise to sunset. Historic houses are open seasonally. Please check property closing times and last tour departure times in advance.

Heavily Visited Properties
Many properties are popular during certain months of the year, times of the day, and holiday weekends. Parking spaces may not be available during peak visitation.

For suggestions about times to avoid crowds at particular properties, contact the appropriate management region office.

Group Visits
The Trustees welcomes group visits. Group tours of historic houses must be arranged in advance. Please contact the property or the appropriate management region office.

Educational Uses
Through their cultural and natural history, the properties of The Trustees of Reservations collectively tell the story of the interaction between people and the Massachusetts landscape over thousands of years.  Properties offer many opportunities for teaching and learning.

Any for-profit educational uses of properties by outside groups require advance written permission from the appropriate management region office; fees may apply.

Trail Maps
Printed trail maps exist for many properties, though not all.  Trail maps are available for free, and can be found at information boards in the property's parking area or main trail head.  During busy months, please be aware that supplies may run out.  Help us recycle and return trail maps to the information board when you leave the property.

Trail maps may also be downloaded from this web site or purchased by mail (for a nominal postage and handling fee) on-line or by calling 978/921-1944.  Please allow 5-10 working days for delivery.

Over-Sand Vehicle (OSV) Access
OSV permits are required for four-wheel-drive vehicle access to barrier beach properties on Martha's Vineyard (Cape Poge Wildlife Refuge and Wasque Reservation) and Nantucket (Coskata-Coatue Wildlife Refuge). Drivers must carry a tire gauge, shovel, tow rope, and wooden board (for jack footing in sand). OSVs may drive only on open, marked trails. OSV access may be restricted to protect nesting or resting wildlife.

For more information, contact the Islands Management Region.

Alcoholic Beverages
Alcoholic beverages are not permitted on properties except in conjunction with special events.

Overnight Accommodation
The Trustees of Reservations currently operates two historic bed & breakfasts at the Inn at Castle Hill in Ipswich, and the Guest House at Field Farm in Williamstown.  These web sites may help you locate other overnight accommodations in the area you plan to visit:

The Trustees also manages the Tully Lake Campground next to Doane's Falls in Royalston. For more information, consult the local Chamber of Commerce, or travel, tourism, and camping web sites.
