Property Description75 acres | Established 2006

The open fields, stone walls and iconic yellow farm buildings evoke a sense of days gone by. East Over Reservation provides a rare opportunity to explore a working farm, managed in harmony with its natural setting. The surrounding woods shelter vernal pools and amidst the fields and barns you'll find bobolinks, orioles and chimney swifts. Visit the Hiller's nearby Eastover Farm for an ice cream cone, steamed native corn, or to see the farm animals.

Trails
Miles of trails passing through a mosaic of agricultural fields, successional forests, and winding hedgerows all surrounded by quarry-stone capped double walls.

East Over Quest

A quest is an educational treasure hunt and outdoor experience that involves answering questions, using map skills, and deciphering clues that will lead to a hidden "treasure" box.  This is an independent, self-guided adventure. Quest booklets are available in the parking lot or by clicking here to download.

Property Acquisition History

In about 1853 successful New York businessman Charles H. Leonard began to transform a working landscape around a gristmill on the Sippican River. The Hiller family purchased the land in 1910 and cared for it until it was permanently protected between 2003 and 2005 by a broad coalition, including The Trustees of Reservations, the Town of Rochester, and the Massachusetts Department of Agricultural Resources.
