Highland Communities Initiative

  • Have a Green Summer! Don't let the national news get you down, get active locally! HCI is offering two easy ways to make a positive impact. Contact us about our Neighbor Conservation Network--a neighborhood-based conservation information program, and the Westfield River Watershed Invasive Species Partnership (WISP)--whose "plant patrollers" monitor the spread of invasive plant species in local towns.
  • Grant Application Help for Highland Towns Need funds to protect a special place in your community? Let us help your town tap into the various state and federal grants available for land conservation. Call HCI at 413.268.8219 for more information.
  • New Publications Free, downloadable versions of HCI's new publications Your Land, Your Financial Choices and Chapter 61B Open Space and Recreational Land are available here in our library. Keep an eye out for our upcoming publication, Your Land, Your Legacy, due out this summer.
  • New Energy at Bullitt Farm See the progress as a 19th century farmhouse in Ashfield, MA becomes the new, energy efficient future home of HCI and the Hilltown Land Trust. One hundred percent of the materials removed from the house are being recycled. See photos on Photobucket under the Bullitt Farmhouse album and listed in seperate files by date.
