Tax Information for 1891 and Charles Eliot Society Members
As a member of the Charles Eliot Society and 1891 Society, you enjoy a special relationship to The Trustees that includes many intangible benefits having no tax consequences. One of these benefits is a special Giving Society membership card providing free admission to all reservations except Crane Beach, where you receive a discount.
You can also choose to have free admission to Crane Beach, a benefit which does have a tax consequence. Beginning with the 2011 season, The Trustees will be launching a new Crane Beach Parking Permit Program. With the new vehicle Parking Sticker, there will be no need for cash or presenting your membership card – simply drive on in and enjoy the beach!
Crane Beach Parking Stickers will be available exclusively to Trustees Members and will be valid from May 1 – April 30. You are eligible to receive up to two FREE Crane Beach Parking Stickers (one Sticker per vehicle).
If you wish to receive a free Crane Beach Parking Permit, $50 per sticker (the value of this benefit as determined by legal counsel) must be deducted from your gift to determine the amount that is tax deductible. If you do not wish to receive a Permit, your gift to The Trustees is fully tax-deductible.
To enable The Trustees to provide you with a prompt and accurate receipt for your gift for tax purposes, please indicate if you wish to receive the Crane Beach Parking Sticker and how many stickers you wish to receive when you make your gift. If you choose this benefit Parking Stickers will be mailed to you in early 2011.
No matter what your decision regarding the Crane Beach Parking Permit, you will retain all the other benefits of your special relationship to The Trustees of Reservations. When choosing either the 1891 Society or Charles Eliot Society membership on the Leadership Giving Membership Form, please indicate whether you accept or decline the Crane Beach Parking Permit.
