Property Description 90 acres | Established 1991

Once a colonial farmstead known as Cherry Hill Farm, the Eleanor Cabot Bradley Estate was transformed into an early twentieth-century country estate. In 1902, Dr. Arthur Tracey Cabot hired architect Charles Platt to design a country house, landscaped grounds, and a complex of farm and estate buildings. Platt adorned the setting with manicured lawns, a walled garden, and a brick-edged parterre garden planted with bulbs, annuals, and perennials. Fifteen acres were set aside as open fields and pastures to preserve a part of the property's rural past.

Beyond the formal landscape, visitors may explore more than sixty acres of meadow and woodland along three miles of trails. A favorite spot in the woodland is a dell where paperbark maple, umbrella pine, dawn redwood, and devil's walking stick flourish.

In 1945, Cabot's niece, Eleanor Cabot Bradley, acquired the property. She and her husband Ralph Bradley made minor modifications to the buildings and restored the overgrown fields. They also added ponds, a sunken camellia house, a greenhouse, a studio, and a garage and planted specimen trees throughout the landscape.
